New collections at Cre8tive Cre8tions!

Cre8tive Cre8tions started with handmade flair buttons, but now they have papers and stamp sets too. They are just gorgeous and match the buttons so well!

Let's start with the Bold & Basic paper collection. I love the graphic designs and wide range of colors in this pack of 20 sheets.

The next paper collection is Catch a Dream, which has a more dreamy and romantic style in lovely colors and with beautiful feathers.

And last but not least these wonderful stamp sets. One of them perfectly matches the Catch a Dream papers, with these feather stamps. The other 2 sets are more graphic and match the Bold & Basic collection. But of course you can be creative and mix and match the 2 collections!

Did you also see some of the new flair buttons? I'm sharing my favorites, the Baker Twine Set. I think I'm having a button crush.... :-)

Mixed Media Class by Donna Downey

Last Sunday I participated in a Mixed Media Class by Donna Downey at the Creabest Scrapbooking store. 6 years ago I already had the honor to meet Donna in a scrapbooking class and I was thrilled to have the chance to join one of her Mixed Media classes now.

Mixed Media is totally new for me and because I'm kind of a neat freak in crafting, I wasn't sure if this was something for me. I chose the class 'Big 40'. In this class we made an art journal with 40 techniques in Mixed Media, which you can use as a desk book to remind you of all the many posibilities. This was a perfect class for me to find out if I would like Mixed Media and what techniques I would use in scrapbooking. Of course you always like some techniques and products better than others, but overall it was such a fun and helpful class and Donna is the most fun teacher you can wish for!

Today I'm sharing some of my favorite techniques we learned. Just keep in mind that this is my first time doing Mixed Media, some techniques are far from perfect and need some more practice :-)

This is the 5,5x8 inch journal we made.

The technique on the left page is blown India ink on gesso. The one on the right page is India ink splatters on gesso.

This technique is Distress Stain over wet gesso.

This is stamping with bubble wrap and acrylic paint, one of my favorites!

For these techniques you're writing with India ink. On the left page with the wet dropper tip from the India ink bottle, on the right page with a fine brush. I so need to work on my handwriting...

This is UTEE Gelato resist. Real fun effect. I got myself the entire Gelato collection, so you're going to see more of this in the future.

To not overload you with photos and techniques, I'll share some more this Friday. I hope to see you back then, I also have to share some exciting news too! :-)

Thanks for stopping by today!

DT Practical Scrappers - Wood Veneer

Today the On Trend team at Practical Scrappers is up with a new theme: wood veneer. I think we all have some of these trendy shapes and the On Trend team is showing you some different ways to use them. I went for the hexagon shapes by Studio Calico.

I always find it a little weird to scrap about myself, but I gave it a try. I edited a photo on Instagram with 9 different filters. This layout doesn't really have a title, because the journaling is already big and it's obvious what this page is about. I used this Dr. Seuss quote because it is one of my favorites and for me it means that you are good enough the way you are, and maybe even more important: that you understand and accept that. I think I'm at a point in my life that I actually do understand and accept that, so the time was right to use this quote.

I misted the small wood veneer hexagons in the borders with Mr. Huey's. On the hexagons that are placed randomly on the page, I added the matching accent stickers.

DT Practical Scrappers - Card Sketch January

Do you want a fun card sketch to get inspired by? Today we have the card sketch for January up at Practical Scrappers. I always love to see how everyone interprets a sketch on his own way.

This is the January sketch

Instead of using hexagons for that background pattern, I decided to go with buttons. I have tons of buttons but hardly use them. So this was a fun way to use a lot of them!
This is my take on the sketch

I used some papers and the alpha sheet from SC Classic Calico Vol 3.

At the Practical Scrappers blog you can see what my fellow DT members made with this card sketch. I hope you feel inspired and share your card on the Practical Scrappers Facebook page!

Happy weekend!!

DT Cre8tive Cre8tions

Last week I received my first package with the fabulous flair buttons of Cre8tive Cre8tions and my hands got itchy to play with them immediately. Today I'm sharing with you the first layout I made with some of them.

I used the Pops Of collection of I {lowe} scrap and I just love how these buttons go so well with the colors of these papers.

I cut out some triangles of the pattern paper and made this pie chart to place behind the flair button.

The Cre8tive Cre8tions buttons I used on this page are from the Birdcage set and the Splash of Colour set.

Check out the online store for many more fun and gorgeous flair button sets.
Did you know Cre8tive Cre8tions is on Facebook too? You can find their Facebook page overhere and find some more inspiration.

DT Use it Tuesday - Challenge #48

It is the 4th Tuesday of the month, so it is time for another challenge at Use it Tuesday!

The new challenge is: Warm it up: use red, yellow and/or orange!

***REMEMBER: All of our challenges call for you to use your hoarded supplies! A challenge requirement is to tell us in your post what you used!***

I decided to not go with all 3 colors, but to pick the one I find the hardest to scrap with: yellow. Ok, orange is neither a color you'll find very often on my layouts, but I made an orange layout already for another Use it Tuesday challenge a couple of months ago.
I had this last year's collection of Echo Park still laying around and didn't touch it at all until now. Probably because of all the yellow :-)

Echo Park For the Record 2: Just my Type, Doily, Fancy, Borders, Alpha stickers, Chipboard accents
Silhouette Cameo, polaroid frame
Jillibean Soup beanstalks yellow

Now it is your turn to show us some of these colors. Link up your project on the Use it Tuesday blog for your chance to be our guest designer at one of our upcoming challenges!

DT Practical Scrappers - Arrows

Today the On Trend team at Practical Scrappers is up with a new theme: arrows. I always love to use arrows on my layouts, but they are usually subtle. This time I thought 'let's go big'. So I went with this rays and arrows cut file and enlarged it into a 12x12 inch background. I chose the Sn@p papers of Simple Stories to go with, as the colors perfectly match the hat in the photo.

Simple Stories Sn@p: pattern papers Grean, Teal and Orange, 6x6 paper pad, fundamentals cardstock stickers, 3x4 cards snappy thoughts.

Accordion fold mini album

I'm sharing an accordion fold mini album with you today. I made this one with a die cut file by Lori Whitlock. I love how easy it is to make a mini album this way, but the small 3 by 3 inch pages were challenging me to be creative on such a small space.

I had some Pretty Little Studio Sand Castle left from the Gossamer Blue August kit and that collection is perfect for the photos I had of swimming with the dolphins on Key Largo.

DT Practical Scrappers - Winter/Snow

Today at Practical Scrappers we're up with the Winter/Snow theme. For my layout I used an older photo of Phiene playing in the snow. I love how the bright colors of her hat and the sleigh work against the white snowy background in this photo, so I copied that into the layout and started out with a white background. I used the Flashback collection by KI Memories for the bright colors in the layout, they match the colors in the photo perfectly!

Family Love

Today I'm sharing another layout with you that I made with the Gossamer Blue December kit. It is one that I really loved making because it is all about family love, the love of my cousin Angela and her family to be exact. I thought it would be fun to just pick randomly some photos of them to make this family collage. These Instaframes by KI Memories are just perfect for it!
