Home deco - wooden sign

During my last trip to Florida I saw all kinds of wooden signs with quotes in the souvenir shops. Besides the fact that they we're too big and heavy to take them home, I also prefer to make things myself. So when I got home I asked my Dad to make me some of these wooden panels. They are 16x16 inch.

I started with a very plain and simple design with this first one, just to try it out what it would look like. I painted the entire panel white, a very thin layer and sanded it a little when the paint was dry. Then I used these super fun alpha masks by Hazel & Ruby: Blindside and Brooklyn to make the quote. The shells are masks made with Tim Holtz mask sheets and the Silhouette. When all masks were in place I painted the panel in a light blue color and removed all masks before the paint was dry. I let the paint dry for a night and sanded the panel to give it a weathered look.

I actually love how it turned out and I really enjoyed making it. So there are definitely more of these projects to come! Now I only wished I had a talent for drawing...that would give me so much more options.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!
