Scrappy Blog Tour

Hi everyone! Last week I was tagged by the amazingly talented Aleksandra Gadji on her Scrappy Blog Tour post. Not only does she make the most beautiful layouts with fabulous designs, I'm also very lucky and happy to call her my friend. Thank you Alex for being awesome and tagging me!

Now on to the questions I have to answer for the Scrappy Blog Tour.

What am I working on right now?
This month The Cut Shoppe has a team up with Clique Kits. We all received the Clique Kits September kit to work with and Ashley designed some awesome cut files that match the kit perfectly. Right now I'm working on some projects with this kit, here's a little sneak peak.

How long does it take me to create a project?
I'm a slow scrapper, there's no way I can create a layout without walking away from it a couple of times! During the weekends I can do a layout in about 2 or 3 hours. Because I work full time, I don't always have the time or energy to work 2 or 3 hours on a layout, so a layout can also take about 2 or 3 weeknights. I use my dining table to scrap and I can leave everything out there, which makes it easier to spend some free 30 minutes on a layout. Oh the joy of living alone and not having to use the dining table for dinner :-)

What are my favorite things to create with at the moment?
On almost every project I use something that is cut with my Silhouette Cameo, I can't imagine my scrappy life without it anymore! Finally I'm finding my way with washi tapes, in the beginning I had a hard time using them but I love the extra little detail and color it gives to my projects. The monthly Clique Kits are a fave of mine since they started in April this year, the kits are put so well together and I love all the exclusives in them. And last but not least, I can't work without wood veneers. They are so cute and between all the color in my pages, they give a nice neutral touch.

How does my writing/creating process work?
It depends if I have a DT assignment or not, but in the end I always get inspired by the product I'm working with or the picture I want to scrap. I prefer to scrap with products all from one collection, you can call me lazy but that's just how it works best for me. When I chose the collection and the picture, I start with selecting the embellishments from said collection that go with the picture. It doesn't mean I'll use them all, but I like to have those in front of me that will work with the picture. The next step is picking the papers that will work best and deciding if I want to go for a background cut with the Silhouette. When I have everything out there, the moving papers and embellishments is starting. Sometimes I have a design in my head and sometimes I just go with the flow and will see what happens.

How do I become inspired and stay inspired?
I always get my inspiration out of the product I'm working with, because that is what I have to deal with. A pattern in a paper, the shape of an embellishment or a title cut with my Silhouette mostly becomes the start of the design of my layout.

What is my signature style?
I always find it so hard to answer this question, I don't think I can describe it in just a couple of words. You'll always find a lot of (bright) colors on my pages and many cut files made with my Silhouette Cameo. I'm not the kinda girl that gets her hands dirty, but I do like to stamp in black here and there on my pages. Also you can find stitches on my layouts very often. I don't have a sewing maching, simply because I just can't handle them, so every single stitch on my projects is done by hand.

Now on to the very talented ladies that I'm tagging.

Monique Liedtke: she has such a great eye for design and details, I can keep looking at her projects and spotting new details all the time. I'm also very happy to have her living nearby and being able to meet up every now and then, which we actually should do more often but you know how life happens...

Erica Thompson: I have 'met' Erica at Clique Kits, she's one of the fabulous women who own and run the kit club. She is such a sweetheart and she has some amazing cardmaking skills that I'm little jealous of! It's not only cards that she makes, she also rocks with her layouts, mini albums and other paper crafting projects.

Mary Jo Rhoda: I'm a fan of her work for a long time and I'm so happy to be with her on the Paper Issues team! She is so very creative in how she uses any kind of scrapbooking product and she's so sweet and funny at the same time, you just gotta love her!

Please stop by the blogs of these wonderful ladies, check out there work and say hi on my behalf.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

  7. I've admired your pages for a long time, and it's been fun to read about your process. I'm a lot like you in that a layout can take days; I almost never finish something in just one sitting! lol!
